Hi all, My name is Kelly Lucas. I am the owner and author of this web site as well as the training products available here. I would like to welcome you here and just say thanks for visiting.
I'm sure you are reading this to find out more about "who" is behind all this....all the tutorials and videos, etc. Well, it's just me and here's how I got here....
You know, 5-6 years ago, if you asked me where I thought I'd be today .... I never would have imagined I'd be right here.... Teaching beginners how to build their own web sites using Microsoft Expression Web and Freelance Web Design/Consulting.
Six years ago I was beginning my search for a graduate school where I could get my masters in Nursing.... or related field. I was an assistant patient care manager and RN at a teaching hospital in Pennsylvania. I worked on a cardiac step down unit, and I just loved what I was doing at the time. Nursing was my passion and for the first time in my life had a sense of satisfaction, I felt content. I had arrived!
Arriving was no easy achievement as it seemed obstacles popped up everywhere. Believe me, if it wasn't one thing, it was another. I suppose that's just how life is. And it's our job to rise above it all, regardless of what life hands us. That's why I am here.... I am rising above the things Life has handed me.
I have two degrees, one in Pschology and the other in Nursing. I worked as a RN for about 8 years before tragedy changed my life forever. Life as I knew it came to a screeching halt, all without warning.
I had to have back surgery. And to make a long story short, that surgery ruined my life. It left me disabled, and I was only in my thirties. This led to several other surgeries to repair the damage. Yet, I would never be the same. Life as I knew it was over. My life has been turned upside down, inside out, and has been the challenge of a life-time.
I suffered with terrible pain for a few years, and at times I just didn't think I was going to make it. I truly contemplated ending my life because I just could not bear the pain. I never saw the end in sight. And it took my mind to dark places.
I found out how much pain is really possible.....I never knew such a pain existed...one that was so severe that my mind and shear will power could not overcome. It kicked my butt, and sucked the life right out of me.
Six years later, and many surgeries later.....here I am. I have arrived, for the second time!!
Actually, I've been doing this for the last 4 years. I created this site in early 2008, but have been using Expression web since 2007. I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time, and my adventures in learning how to use Expression Web are the reasons behind my business.
.....It's because of Expression Web that I have a business today....oh, and the lack of tutorials and training for Beginners has something to do with my success.... I simply found a need in the market, and I am meeting that need every day. Through it all, I discovered my talent for teaching.... putting things into easy to understand words. Because of this talent, I have found great success with my training products and services. (my low prices also seem to help!!)
I started this site in 2008 and since that time, it has grown exponentially. It became wildly popular very quickly and as a result grew into a new business of Selling Tutorials on DVDs and Online Classes. People requested all these things, and I just went with the flow and met these needs.
DVD Sales have hit an all time high in December 2010 and continued on into 2011. Soon my book will be published, finally!! And I expect to have many more DVDs released in the near future. Once again, I have found the satisfaction and the contentment that I never thought I would find a second time.
Physically, I still have good days and bad days. My physical limitations prevent me from being on my feet for extended periods of time (like 15 minutes!). Actually, walking has become extremely difficult. So I spend most of my time in a recliner with my laptop....
A Place For Beginners
Why Beginners? Because it was the logical thing to do at the time. And it still is. It seemed like Beginners were neglected when Expression Web hit the scene. Believe me, I was a beginner and I remember how frustrating it was to learn how to design web pages with EW....dear lord, I nearly threw my laptop out the window!!! on several occassions!!
I think that my experience as a beginner with EW enabled me to "see" what was missing.....the existing resources for beginners at the time fell short of meeting realistic needs. I wasted so much money on books that promised you everything, but really missed the target...
So that's why I have created the DVDs and written the Book I wish I had in front of me when I was getting started with Expression Web. I like to believe I was 'thinking outside the box'..... or at least my tutorials are different from the rest of the crowd.
What Sets my Products Apart from the Crowd?
I know that Beginners have special needs and I know how important it is to make sure all of my tutorials work. I have gone to great lengths to make sure your learning experiences are as pleasant as possible.
Plus, I show you step by step how to build your own web site. You will literally begin at the Beginning! I skip nothing.... and follow through to publishing your web site.
Most of all, I use words that everyone can understand. I don't use the lingo that is a part of a web designers every day routine. This alone makes my products very usable and leads to your success.

I Hate Watching TV all Day
Physically limited or not, I still plug away at whatever I do. That includes helping others like yourself. I spend every day working on something web related. Some days it might be tutoring and consulting. Other days I do a lot of writing or I'm on the phone....there are days when the phone just won't stop ringing! (and I love it!) I do a lot of consulting and web design projects. My business has turned out to be a wonderful distraction from my physical issues, and keeps my mind stimulated and I feel like I am working towards something positive. Sure beats watching tv all day!
Finally....
In the end, I suppose you could say it was my tragedy that led me to where I am today. I have no idea what the future holds and I don't care. I have learned to live in the moment because the moment is all there is. No more futuristic thinking. Success is meant for today, not tomorrow.
And remember, there is always a Gift in a problem. But you have to look for it, or you will miss it.
