Expression Web 4 - Connect to Publishing Destination

Publishing after Connecting via FTP

After you Add a Publishing Destination, you now need to Connect to that Publishing Destination.  You will connect any time you need to publish new pages or updated pages and other files (like images, javascript, etc).

NOTE:  If you have any difficulty connecting to your publishing destination via FTP, it is likely due to the settings you input earlier.  Do not contact me about this.  You must contact your Web Hosting Provider.  Every Provider is a bit different, therefore they will be more helpful to you.

How to Connect

You have a few options when it comes time to connecting to your publishing destination.  First, make sure you save all your files. Then.....

1.  Click Site and Choose Publishing

2.  You will see the following appear in the main editing window....

publishing

3.  Click on the text you see above

You will now see two panels, one on the left and one on the right.

The Left panel represents the files in your web site that are stored on your computer.

The Right Panel represents the Remote Server, which is your Publishing Destination.

The goal is to publish new and updated files from the Left to the Right.

Publishing Files after Connecting

Click Site and Choose Publish All Files

or

Click Site and Choose Publish all Changed Files

You could also select the files to publish by choosing them one by one with your cursor.  Use ctrl + to select more than one file.  Then click on the blue arrow pointing to the Right.
