Expression Web 3 provides a few different Publishing Options. We will start with Publishing via an FTP connection. Then we will review how to publish via FrontPage Server Extensions.
The Publishing Settings must match your web hosting account information. For instance, do you intend on using an FTP connection to publish? If so, you have to find your ftp settings to your hosting account. Or, you will need to set up the ftp information yourself.
For instance, if you have Hostmonster or Hostgator web hosting, then you may need to set up an FTP Account. Look for the "FTP Account" icon below.

Then again, some web hosts will provide you with your FTP settings. Either way, let's take a look at the most common FTP settings and how to input these settings in Expression Web 3.

When you click Add.... a new dialog box opens. This is where you will enter your publishing settings.
Connection Type: FTP is the most common type of connection. FrontPage Server Extensions can also be used if your hosting supports them.
Note: you must first install FPSEs on your hosting account.
FTP Settings usually look like this: ftp:// ftp.yourdomain.com
Directory to Publish too: Usually the public_html
If you are publishing to a subdomain, the directory to publish to: public_html/subdomain
Example: if you have a subdomain named 'clients', public_html/clients is the directory you would enter.
Sometimes it is tricky to publish for the first time. Every web hosting provider is different. So if you need help, just call your hosting company or see if they have online chat services. They are usually quite helpful.
