Avoid Common Mistakes When Re-Designing Web Pages

The most important tip I want to give you right now is this:  DO NOT Change the Names of Your New Web Pages!!  You will lose all page rank, age, standings in search engine results pages, etc.  It's like starting over at square 1.

HOWEVER...........  if you must change the name of a web page, please be sure to create a 301 permanent redirect.  You can usually do this within your web hosting control panel.

Or, google "301" permanent redirect" and you will find help that way.

How to Copy and Paste

Many of my customers have a frontpage web site.  This means you need to redesign your existing site.  You will need to design at least one web page and save it as a Dynamic Web Template (DWT).  Then add editable regions and begin making new pages from the DWT.

Then  you will copy and paste your content into your new pages.  In doing so, you must be careful not to drag in styles from the content you copy. 

Therefore, you must paste the content in a special way.
